Families and Kids
This year, the West Oak Lane Jazz and Arts Festival celebrates diversity and community, and that includes children! A portion of the festival on Saturday, June 18, from 10:00AM – 1:00PM, will be especially for kids with special performances, workshops and an electronic gaming arcade.
The highlight of this event will be the performance and workshops by The Persuasions. The Persuasions will be performing hits from their many recordings including songs from the “Good Ship Lollipop”, which was the most award-winning album in the history of Music for Little People, and the group’s latest recording, “Knockin’ On Bob’s Door”, the music of Bob Dylan. The Persuasions workshop for children will have a Q & A section and take them through the creative process of making vocal music with each of the five members of the group teaching the kids a new song that they’ll perform as part of the festival!
In addition, there will be a performance by Philadelphia’s own Central High School Jazz Band under the direction of Brandon Turner.
Kids of all ages will enjoy the Interactive Game Experience (IGX), a video gaming arcade with 17 stations utilizing the latest, major game platforms including Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation and Microsoft Xbox 360. The kids will have a blast playing a wide selection of the latest game software and titles.
So come on out with the whole family and enjoy the music and fun!
