“Being blessed to live in this neighborhood, I've attended all the jazz festivals. to watch it grow makes it feel like a part of our family and it has blossomed into a citywide community event. We had a ball and danced each night away. As I drove down Ogontz Ave this morning, no one would have known that the city was being so entertained just a few hours ago. It's a testament to your staff and all the people who put this event together.

We look forward to next year!

“I attended the Festival for the first time on Saturday.  It was well organized and well run. I have no complaints but a suggestion regarding the food tickets.  I am sure that a significant percentage of people did not use all of their food tickets.  I did not use all of mine but gave them to a family who was returning on Sunday.  My suggestion is that you give the option of donating unused tickets to an organization like Philabundance. Perhaps you already do but I was too busy enjoying the festivities.  Hope to attend next year!!

Have a Blessed Day

“I just wanted to take a minute to say thanks to you and your great ShopRite sponsor for your hospitality last night at the West Oak Lane Jazz Fest.  We all got to see 3 of our favorite groups...the rain held off for most of the night...and a good time was had by all.  We were all first-timers at your great event...and I'm hoping it won't be our last... (especially if "WAR" is back again.)

again...thanks to you and ShopRite for hooking us up....

take care.....

“I am so happy I attended, it was really a wonderful concert with Billy Paul and Jeffrey Osborne, they were both at the top of their game. But just as much I think was the audience participation and the warm vibe that was present throughout.  The one disappointment is the scheduling of UGO at 11 p.m.  a very, very poor timeframe, though I stayed until they ended at 1 a.m…They are GREAT!  Whenever I see them, an interesting phenomenon takes place; people start dancin’ like they went through a time machine, like they are 30 years younger and dancin’ like it is the first party they’ve attended in years…or like it is the last party they will ever attend.   Since the crowd at the festival tends to be an older crowd, one that most relates to the music of UGO, although I saw a lot of young folks jamming to that music… you don’t get any more homegrown than UGO. They are the bomb! Please consider giving them a better time slot next year.

Thanks for listening,
Tina Bradley

“Dear Representative Evans,

Thank you to all the public officials who contributed to the West Oak Lane Jazz Festival. It is truly wonderful to see my tax dollars used for something that is so beneficial to the community and enjoyable. This is my second year attending the festival (It would have been more if I had been aware of the festival). I can’t begin to say how much I truly enjoyed the festivities. Please continue to support this worthy endeavor. I am originally from the Germantown/Mt Airy/Olney areas. I didn’t realize Ogontz Avenue had become such a vibrant shopping district. I definitely will be spending weekends shopping there.

“Folks,

I had a number of friends attend the festival this year and even with the rain, they had a great time! I visited as well and man it was crowded. I tried to walk from Relish to the main stage by taking the alley and that was a mistake..people were everywhere. I tried to park even near Cheltenham with no luck. People were on foot, bikes, and you name it. It was truly a community - regional event at scale..I asked a few people why they came.. they said good music, good food, and it was safe..
I asked how they heard about it… word of mouth.. website and radio..

Congratulations… Where do you go next year with this kind of success..wow

“Hi Erika,

I wanted to say I had a great time volunteering at the W.O.L Jazz Festival! Jeffrey Osborne was awesome and the food vendors were excellent. Ms. Irene and Ms. Arlene were so much fun to work with and I would love to volunteer again next year. If you have any future volunteer opportunities with OARC, please don't hesitate to contact me. Have a great weekend!
