This year, Brown’s Family ShopRite has generously agreed to become a Presenting Sponsor for 2009 West Oak Lane Jazz and Arts Festival.
Brown’s Family ShopRite has held a long-time presence in the West Oak Lane/Northwest Philadelphia area and has established a strong community-advocate reputation working with many community organizations, small businesses and neighborhood groups in support of their events. Each of their 11 stores shares a basic belief: inner city supermarket customers deserve a shopping experience that includes quality products, low prices, fresh and clean stores and, above all, respectful customer service. They are proud to be one of the few major family grocery businesses left in the area and are committed to supporting all of the neighborhoods where they do business.
Jeff Brown, President and CEO of Brown’s Super Stores, Inc., is a fourth generation Philadelphia grocer who has grown up in the local traditions of the region. In the communities where Jeff’s stores are located he is actively engaged in working with community groups that fight hunger, prevent violence, and help youth have a brighter future by preparing them for viable careers.
Jeff is an officer and member of the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Youth Network. He is also actively involved in assisting minority business people to be successful in their entrepreneurial endeavors. He has been recognized by the City of Philadelphia and South Jersey for his efforts including recognition from the NAACP, as well as citations and awards from the Mayor’s office and the Philadelphia City Council. "It is my belief that the West Oak Lane Jazz and Arts Festival and other opportunities for us all to enjoy the arts really can add a lot of joy to our lives," stated Jeff Brown. "As it is our mission to "Bring Joy to the Lives of the People We Serve," we are glad to be part of helping continue this great tradition."
A growing 11-store supermarket chain, trading under the ShopRite banner, Brown’s Family ShopRite started in 1988 with the purchase of their store in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. As one of the leading supermarkets in the Delaware Valley, the company employs 2,500 associates who are committed to making a difference for their customers and the local communities they serve.
Brown’s Family ShopRite is a member of the Wakefern Food Corporation, the largest food cooperative in the United States. Through his leadership at Wakefern, Jeff shares his enthusiasm and knowledge of marketing and business development in urban areas and is committed to helping other grocers better understand the diversity of communities they serve.
